Dr Peter Halkon, Professor Martin Millett and Dr Helen Woodhouse have recorded the results of the fieldwork and artefact research focussed on Hayton that began in 1993 and continued until 2011, the subject of their new book. This detailed survey revealed unique and exciting discoveries including an extensive Roman roadside settlement, Roman buildings including a bath house and timber lined well, and new information about the Roman fort. Extensive evidence for Iron Age activity including round houses, enclosures and farmsteads was also found.
