There was an annual rugby union game between the county school and the C of E school at Easter. The former usually won - I suspect they had a bigger pool of bigger lads from which to select. However, on at least one occasion during the war the National (C of E) school won and I do believe that the prize for each lad was a National Savings stamp - so the picture being held was probably the card on which the stamp would be stuck. A wise move to encourage the savings habit?
