English's Mill
The mill was probably one of the mills in the Domesday Book. A miller is last mentioned in 1921. Shortly after this the water mill was demolished. It was of two stories and ran two pairs of stones The wheel was fed from a dam. The mill moved into the old warehouses between the wars and electric driven mill rollers were installed and run by messrs. R.M. English. In 1896, a warehouse fire damaged the building. In the late 1980's the mill was demolished and a senior citizen accomodation block called Betterton Court was built in its place but its design retained the Mill like appearance.
